HUSKIES ROBIN FOX-PAPPAS SET TO JOIN CANADA’S TOP COLLEGIATE PLAYERS ON EUROPEAN TRIP

Robin Fox-Pappas was Ontario's leader in several major offensive categories in 2017, and will take his game international this spring.

After an incredible first year split of .413/.550/.630, George Brown’s Robin Fox-Pappas will be taking his game international with The North Baseball Team, a group comprised of Canada’s best collegiate and university baseball players.

The team will pay an eight-to-ten game schedule against National teams, who are top division league teams in Germany and Switzerland. The vast majority of imports on those teams are high-level U.S. collegiate athletes, giving the Canadians a chance to prove themselves against their cross-border competition.

“It’s a great opportunity to show the quality of players that we have north of the border,” said Fox-Pappas. “We plan on going down there and showing that we have no problem competing with D-I, D-II guys.”

Fox-Pappas played a major role for a Huskies baseball program that made great strides in 2017, clearly establishing himself among the OCAA’s elite. The 6’4” Toronto native was first in Ontario in slugging percentage, first in on-base percentage, first in doubles and third in batting average. Fox-Pappas was more than solid defensively, among the biggest reasons that George Brown scored 21 more runs than a year ago and looked so much better on both sides of the ball.

The trips capper will be the Finkstonball in Austria, where more than 2,500 players from 23 countries have competed over the past 20 years. The North Team will be the first Canadian team to compete in the tournament's history. The trip will include stops Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Along with Huskies head coach Tom Valcke having recently been named the head coach of Hong Kong’s national team, George Brown’s baseball team is making international waves.
