Kayla Marziliano (Women’s Indoor Soccer)

Montreal native Kayla Marziliano continued to prove herself among the OCAA’s most dangerous forwards at Monday’s Regional Qualifier, scoring six goals as the Huskies earned their spot at the Provincial Championship. In George Brown’s 7-0 win over Sault, the catalyst for their qualification, she scored five times. Marziliano is no stranger to the back of the net, as earlier this year she scored a tournament-high ten goals at the Huskies own George Brown Invitational. The first-year striker is a threat anywhere over half, and her ability to finish is just what the program needed heading into the season.

The Huskies open Provincials on Thursday, March 22 at Redeemer. They are grouped with Durham, Seneca, St. Clair and Humber.

Michael Whelan (Men’s Indoor Soccer)

First-year forward Michael Whelan came through in a big way at Thursday’s Regional Qualifier, scoring six goals as George Brown went a perfect 3-0 to win Pool D and qualify for Provincials. Whelan scored five of his six goals in the tournament-opening win over Lakehead, and the Huskies cruised the rest of the day, outscoring their three opponents 16-1.

The reigning champions will open Provincials on Thursday, March 22 at Redeemer. They are grouped with Redeemer, UTM, Durham and Conestoga.
