Ace Zeng (Badminton)

Ace Zeng concluded his incredible freshman season with a CCAA National Silver medal on Saturday afternoon, wrapping up one of the strongest debuts in OCAA history. Ace's CCAA Silver medal follows his Men’s Singles Provincial title; Zeng went 3-2 in Alberta during round-robin play before defeating VIU’s Graydon Robb for a second consecutive time to assure his spot in the finals. Zeng gave a valiant effort against Concordia’s Desmond Wang, currently an internationally top-ten ranked player, ultimately settling for second best collegiate player in the country.

The China native concludes his season having won eight titles, a CCAA All-Canadian team member and the OCAA’s Male Badminton Player of the Year. He was the biggest reason that the men’s badminton team headed to Nationals ranked Ontario's number one program.

Anh Hoang (Badminton)

Anh Hoang capped her season with a CCAA National Silver medal at Concordia. The first-year Vietnam native established herself early among the best player in the OCAA, and by season’s end was definitively the province’s best women’s singles player. Hoang went 4-1 during round-robin play before overcoming injury in an impressive semi-finals win over Fanshawe’s Riley Hogan.

Hoang also won the OCAA Women’s Singles title and was named an OCAA All-Star at the year-end banquet. Like Zeng, she played the largest role in the women's team finishing the OCAA Championship ranked number one in the province.
