George Brown badminton, currently Canada's top-ranked program, is headed to Edmonton for the CCAA National Championship at Concordia. The Championship will run Thursday through Saturday.

The Huskies will have entrants in four of the five disciplines, including men's singles, women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles after an incredible run at the Provincial Championship that led to their current number one ranking.

Ace Zeng and Anh Hoang both head into Nationals as men's and women's singles gold medallists, while the mixed doubles pairing of Mike Rub Ya and Amy Ding and women's doubles pairing of Angeline Alviar and Yunji Kim head in as silver medallists.

Zeng goes into the Championship coming off one of the best freshmen seasons not only in Ontario but all of Canada. The China native has taken the OCAA by storm, winning eight tournaments while being named the 2018 OCAA Male Badminton Player of the Year and an All-Canadian.  He is certainly among the favourites in Men's Singles going into the event.

The Huskies also boast the OCAA's Coach of the Year, with Will Schram taking home the honour in just his second year at the helm of the program. The former member of the Canadian and Ontario winter games led the charge as for the first time in program history George Brown badminton took home both men's and women's provincial team titles.

Rounds one through three will take place on Thursday, with play getting underway at 10:00 a.m. Rounds four, five and the semi-finals take place on Friday, and the medal rounds take place on Sunday.
