No. 7 HUSKIES MEN’S BASKETBALL SET TO FACE No. 11 HUMBER IN OCAA CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINALS

George Brown men’s basketball (19-2, 2nd east) will face off against the Humber Hawks (16-5, 3rd west) in the OCAA Championship quarter-finals on Thursday afternoon at Niagara College.

The Huskies head into the matchup winners of nine straight and are looking to qualify for the National Championship for a second consecutive season. The OCAA holds two bids to Nationals, so a finals appearance is enough to qualify.

George Brown arrives at Provincials after a convincing 86-76 crossover win over Mohawk, and have held opponents to 76 points or less in eight of their past ten outings.

Fifth-year guard Dejazmatch James was named the OCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. James scored a team-high 17 points in the win over the Mountaineers, and his work on both ends of the court has been crucial down the stretch.

It will be a battle of the OCAA's second highest scoring offence in Humber against the provinces second stingiest defence, George Brown. The Huskies combination of James, Adam Costanzo, Jordan James, Chris Fields and Teshayn Gayle give them as good a guard/wing defensive combo as anyone. The Toronto squad will likely go as far as their defence carries them.
