HUSKIES HOST BLOCK PARTY AS GEORGE BROWN PUNCHES TICKET TO OCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

Huskies men's volleyball is headed to the OCAA Championship after Sunday's 3-1 win over Sheridan.

For the second consecutive year George Brown men’s volleyball won a do-or-die crossover playoff game after the Huskies defeated Sheridan 3-1 (25-15, 25-20, 23-25, 25-17) on Sunday afternoon to book their spot at the OCAA Championship.

The Huskies took control from the get-go and rarely let up, jumping out to an early 15-8 first set lead and refusing to let that momentum slip. George Brown tallied an impressive twenty blocks in the win, led by All-Star D'Artaniel Jackman's seven block effort. It was that dominant play at the net that was ultimately the difference-maker

Second-year head coach Garrett May decided to insert Yuspeh Jackman into the starting line-up, and the move paid off in spades. Jackman got rolling early, and ultimately finished with ten kills and some great front-court play.

During a key second-set stretch, Norbu Shresth and Nathaniel Masson got in on the action, stemming Bruins momentum with a couple of excellent serves. May emphasizes the necessity for everyone to be ready to play, and it paid dividends in the victory.

Also crucial in the win were Neon Ng, who had nine kills and a pair of blocks, and Matt Krok, who wrapped his day with ten kills and four digs.

With the win George Brown improves to 14-5 on the season.

The Huskies will now take on Redeemer in the OCAA Championship quarter-finals on Thursday, February 22. Follow @GBC_Huskies on twitter for updates throughout the championship.
