ALEX PETRONIS, KRISTAN LUONG EARN HUSKIES ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONOURS

Alex Petronis (Men’s Basketball)

George Brown men's basketball went a perfect 3-0 last week to improve to 15-2 on the season, ensuring themselves no worse than a second-place finish in the east. Guard Alex Petronis continues to prove himself to be among the OCAA’s elite scorers, and he led the way in Friday night’s 72-70 win over St. Lawrence with 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field. In Tuesday’s road win over Centennial, he finished with another team-high 16 point and seven rebounds. On the year Petronis is now averaging 15.8 points a night, 6.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

The Huskies men’s basketball team will next play on Wednesday, February 14 against Georgian at home. Men’s game tips off at 8 p.m.



Kristan Luong (Women’s Volleyball)

George Brown women’s volleyball picked up their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon, a straight sets victory over Canadore. Kristan Luong, who has helped lead the Huskies to a much-improved second half of play, led the charge. Luong finished her afternoon with a team-high 13 kills and made crucial plays down the stretch of tight second and third sets, and she has now finished with five or more kills in five of her past seven outings.

The women’s volleyball team will celebrate seniors night on Tuesday, February 13 against Fleming. Women’s game gets underway at 6 p.m.
