Led by Kristan Luong, Huskies women's volleyball swept Canadore on Saturday afternoon.

George Brown women’s volleyball continued what has been a much improved second half on Saturday afternoon, earning their first win of the season via a 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-23) sweep of Canadore.

Despite the winless record going into the day’s action, George Brown had undoubtedly been playing much better volleyball since the winter semester began. Additions Jasmin Walia, Kelsey-Jane Lamprecht and Nicole Poupart have all been a major boost to the Huskies depth and talent level.

Kristan Luong led the charge with a game-high 13 kills, and the outside hitter came up big down the stretch of the final two sets. Veteran Julia Via and Lamprecht also played crucial roles in the win, combining for 19 kills and four service aces. Walia had 30 assists from the setter position.

The men’s team is now 13-4 after a 3-0 (25-23, 30-28, 25-23) sweep of the visiting Panthers.

OCAA All-Star D'Artaniel Jackman was the catalyst, finishing his day with 10 digs, four blocks and a few critical serves down the stretch. Neon Ng had nine kills on the day, while Ray Tantengco had eight.

With the win, George Brown is assured to finish second overall in the east. They will take on the west's seventh-seeded team in next weekend's crossover matchup for a spot in the OCAA Championship at St. James.

The Huskies wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, February 13 at home against Fleming. Women’s first serve is 6 p.m., men’s is 8 p.m. Follow @GBC_Huskies on twitter for updates throughout the night.
