Yang Jin is headed to provincials, while Kayla Marziliano scored 10 goals in a tournament win.

Kayla Marziliano (Women’s Indoor Soccer)

Huskies women’s indoor soccer was nothing short of dominant at the Huskies Invitational on Thursday, capturing the title after going 5-0 while outscoring opponents 22-0. No one was more impressive than first-year Husky Kayla Marziliano, as the 5’6” Montreal native controlled play up front from the outset, finishing with a tournament-high 10 goals. Marziliano's aggressive, fast-paced style of play embodies why George Brown was so successful last week, and now finally at full strength the women’s team appears to be among the most improved in the province as the regional championship approaches.

Next up the Huskies will head to Sheridan for the Bruins Invitational on Saturday, February 17.

Yang Jin (Badminton)

Yang Jin and partner Alex Chao went a perfect four-for-four at the regional championship last week, ensuring themselves a spot in the OCAA Championship in the process. Jin won soundly in each of his four matches, defeating Seneca, Georgian, Centennial and Boreal in convincing fashion – only one of those matches went to a third set. The duo was joined by Ace Zeng, Anh Hoang, Yunji Kim and Angeline Alviar as gold medallists.

As a team, the Huskies won four of a possible five titles and had a team in each of the five draws qualify for provincials. The OCAA Championship is set for February 16-17 at Mohawk College.
