George Brown men’s basketball (12-2, 2nd east) will play host to the Canadore Panthers on Sunday afternoon looking to stay in the race for top spot in the east division.

The Huskies will continue to lean on the high scoring backcourt duo of Dejazmatch James and Alex Petronis, who form one of the province’s strongest guard tandems. The two are averaging over 35 points a night combined, 4.4 steals and nearly ten boards while equally importantly providing solid defense on a consistent basis. As the provincial championship inches closer, having James and Petronis rolling is key.

George Brown currently boasts the OCAA’s stingiest defense, allowing just 70.6 points per game. The Huskies have held opponents to 34.4% shooting from the field, again the lowest mark in the province. Athletic, versatile wings Adam Costanzo and Jordan James continue to play important parts in containing opposing scorers. Costanzo has been particularly effective, and continues to add to his Rookie of the Year candidacy.

The Huskies currently sit just one game back of Seneca for the division’s top spot, and with six games remaining have an opportunity to make that ground up. In all likelihood they’ll need to run the table in order to have a shot at doing so.

Canadore heads into the matchup with a record of 6-9, with the Huskies looking to complete the season sweep.
