George Brown women’s basketball (11-1, 1st east) will host the Durham Lords on Wednesday night looking to complete the season sweep.

The Huskies, who cracked the national rankings and heading into Tuesday were #14 in Canada, rank among the OCAA’s top-five in nearly every major statistical category. George Brown is currently number two in points per game (81.0), second in field goals per game (30.8), third in field goal percentage (38.9%), third in steals per game (17.6) and third in steal per game (17.6).

First-year guard/forward Merrissa Moore has continued to steadily improve, showing rare poised for a freshman. In Saturday afternoon’s road win over Algonquin, the Huntsville native poured in 13 points, including a pair of triples, and three boards. She has now made 20 three-pointers on the season, and provides crucial floor spacing off the bench for an impressive set of interior scorers.

Second-year bench boss Warren Williams continues to implement his up-tempo, high-pressure style of play to great effect. The Huskies press has consistently worn opponents out and forces turnovers, with Williams utilizing George depth efficiently.

With only five regular-season games remaining, the Huskies can ensure themselves top spot in the division by winning out. With four of their final five at home, where George Brown is undefeated on the year, the Huskies fate is in their own hands.

Durham heads into the night 6-6.

Opening tip is schduled for 7 p.m. at Casa Loma Campus, click here to watch live or follow @GBC_Huskies on twitter for updates throughout the night.
