Huskies women’s basketball wrapped up a perfect opening semester on Friday night with an 84-65 win over Durham.

George Brown women’s basketball finished a perfect first half of the season on Friday night with an 84-65 road win over Durham.

The Huskies closed the semester with four consecutive wins over their two closest east division rivals, Seneca and the Lords.  Their average margin of victory in the wins was fourteen, and the Huskies are now one of only two remaining undefeated teams in the province.

George Brown’s two leading scorers, Aprille Deus and Tianna Sullivan, combined for 40 points on an incredibly efficient 16-for-29 shooting, while also contributing 11 boards and six assists. The duo has clearly established themselves among the best in the OCAA. Second-year Husky Kiyann Grimaldo had a nice game as well, finishing with 12 points and five rebounds.

Head coach Warren Williams has more fully implemented his high-pressure style of play in his second year at the helm, and it is paying dividends. George Brown’s full-court press is forcing a league-high 20 turnovers a night, and those opportunities are being converted on a regular basis. The program’s incredible turnaround is no doubt in large part thanks to Williams vision and style of play’s effectiveness.
