Throughout the month of November, Huskies Athletics will be accepting donations in support of Movember at all home varsity games. Spectators can guess the number of candies in a jar at the gate, $1 for one guess and $5 for three. The closest guess wins the jar and Huskies SWAG, with all proceeds going in support of men’s health issues. Check out the promo video here.

George Brown men’s basketball (8-1, 2nd east) will play host to Fleming on Wednesday night in their first semester finale.

Defense has been the Huskies calling card all season – George Brown has held opponents to under 68 points in five of nine games, and are allowing the second fewest points per game in the province. They have held the opposition to 35.6% shooting from the field (second lowest mark in the province) and 33.5% shooting from beyond the arc.

Alex Petronis and Dejazmatch James have proven to be a tough, physical set of backcourt defenders. The pair are combining to average five steals a night, and have largely shutdown opposing backcourts. They are also among the best rebounding guards in the province, averaging 6.4 and 4 rebounds respectively.

On the offensive side of the ball, George Brown boasts one of the OCAA’s most balanced attacks. Along with Petronis (18.6 ppg) and James (16.8 ppg), Matthew Bukovec (13 ppg) and Adam Costanzo (12.9 ppg) are averaging double figures. Costanzo, James and Petronis are all shooting nearly 50% from the floor, while point guard Teshayn Gayle and Chris Fields have been solid.

Freshman Adam Costanzo has come into his own as of late, eclipsing 20 points in three of his past four outings while also providing a solid defensive presence.

Fleming heads into tonight with a record of 2-6.
