HUSKIES VOLLEYBALL HEAD TO DURHAM TONIGHT, MEN LOOK TO PICK UP SEVENTH STRAIGHT WIN

Men's volleyball head into Tuesday night winners of six straight, while the women look to get into the win column.

George Brown men’s volleyball (6-1, 2nd east) will head to Oshawa to face the Durham Lords tonight in search of their seventh consecutive win.

The Huskies current win-streak has seen them climb to number five in the province, and they have earned straight-sets victories in four of their past five outings. George Brown currently ranks tops in the OCAA  in assists per set (11.32) and third in kills per set (11.32). They also rank fourth in digs (316), sixth in hitting percentage (.250) and seventh in service aces (45). 

Leading the way has been outside hitter D’Artaniel Jackman, a 2016-17 OCAA All-Star who is averaging 4.5 points per set for a total of 113 points, good for fourth in the province. He also ranks fourth in kills per set (3.48) and fourth in total kills (87). Teaming up with Jackman on the outside is the trio of Matt Krok, Neon Ng and Raymond Tantengco. The three are combining for seven points a set, and each have at least 45 points on the season. 

Durham heads into the matchup with a record of 4-2. 

The women’s team (0-7, 10th east) have been playing better as of late, taking sets off of Fleming and 7-1 Algonquin recently.  

Outside hitter Julia Vit has led the way, averaging 2.3 points per set and with a team-high 53 digs and 43 kills on the season. First-year Husky Natasha Zimonjic is second on the team in points per set, and has fourteen kills.
