George Brown men’s volleyball extended their win streak to five on Sunday afternoon after a 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-15) straight sets victory over the visiting La Cite Coyotes.

The Huskies set the tone early in the first set, and were in control throughout all three. D'Artaniel Jackman, last week's OCAA and CCAA Athlete of the Week, was again dominant against a helpless Coyotes frontline. The 6'4" Toronto native finished with a team-best 11 kills on 38 total attacks, as well as four digs.

Middle Ahmed Youssef was a real presence in the middle, forcing the La Cite attack into numerous low-percentage attempts - he also finished with nine kills. Matt Krok had three kills, while setter Pradeep Bhogal yet again finished with 30-plus assists, his fifth time in six attempts.

With the win, the Huskies remain in the eastern division's second spot and have the third-best record in the province.

For the second consecutive day the Huskies women’s volleyball team looked much improved, but they were unable to capitalize on several opportunities and wound up falling 3-0 (17-25, 22-25, 15-25) to La Cite.

George Brown played particularly well in the second set, but was unable to turn a 15-8 lead into a set win. Julia Myrda had her best performance of the season, finishing with four kills along with a team-best nine digs. Myrda’s improvement mirrors that of many of the Huskies younger players.

Julia Vit and Natasha Zimonjic combined for nine kills on 63 total attempts, while Kristan Luong had 16 assists.

Next up the Huskies will visit Fleming on Saturday, November 25. Women’s first serve is scheduled for 1 p.m., men’s at 3 p.m. Follow @GBC_Huskies on twitter for updates throughout the day.
