Matt Bukovec averaged 14.5 points and 7 rebounds last week, while Jenna Freeman is headed to the national championship.

Matthew Bukovec (Men’s Basketball)

George Brown men’s basketball reeled off a pair of wins on Friday and Saturday, improving to a perfect 4-0 on the year. Returning power forward Matthew Bukovec played a leading role in both victories, scoring nine points and adding a team-best six rebounds on Friday night before going off for 20 points on 4-for-7 shooting from deep on Saturday; he also led George Brown on the boards with eight. The versatile 6'6" big man has appeared in three straight national championships, and if the Huskies are going to continue last year’s success this season he is sure to play a critical role.

Jenna Freeman (Cross Country)

Freeman, who has been outstanding all season, helped ensure the Huskies women’s team a national championship birth this weekend at Fanshawe. She paced the way with a time of 23:24, good for eighth overall and the fourth time in five races that the Orillia native has clocked in with a top-ten finish. As a team, George Brown’s third-place finish ensured them a spot at College Lionel-Groulx, who will host the CCAA championship from November 10-11. 2017 will mark the tenth time in the past eleven years that the Huskies have sent at least one female runner to nationals.
