All four Huskies All-Stars have played a leading role on a team that is 7-3-1 heading into the Provincial Championship.

An impressive regular season earned the Huskies soccer a program record four OCAA All-Star selections at Wednesday night’s Awards Banquet in Peterborough.

Veteran midfielder Jesse Oliver was named to the All-Star team for a third consecutive season, and the 2017 campaign may well have been the fifth-year captain’s best yet. The Trinidad and Tobago native scored four times, and more importantly directed play on both sides of the ball. His role in the Huskies plus-24 goal differential and allowing barely more than a goal per game was crucial, while his leadership made an impact throughout the season.

The award marks the second consecutive season that striker Shaquille Agard has been named an All-Star. The 6’0” Toronto native scored a pair of goals against UTM, and while he didn’t find the back of the net as consistently this season as in 2016, he played a vital role for a potent Huskies attack. Teamed up with an elite group of forwards, Agard’s ability to draw defensive attention opened the field up throughout the season. He was a big reason George Brown scored as frequently as they did.

Turkey native Ozzy Keles was a stalwart for the Huskies defensively, anchoring a backline among the provinces best. Keles pitched in offensively as well, scoring three goals to lead all George Brown defenders. He took on an increased role in directing traffic for the back-line, and his communication and positioning was among the best in Ontario.

Filipe Vilela took the province by storm, scoring a team-best ten goals in just eight games, including a pair of hat tricks. He was also named the League Scoring Champion, Overall Rookie of the Year, Central Division Scoring Champion and Central Division Rookie of the Year. Read the full story here
