Jerome Baker (Men’s Soccer)

The Redeemer Royals backline had no answer for Baker in George Brown’s 7-0 crossover win on Saturday night, as the 6’0” striker repeatedly made the visitors defense pay. Baker netted the Huskies third goal of the night in the seventeenth minute, and made one of the prettiest plays of the season to set up Osman Hussein for the Huskies fourth tally (check out our twitter feed). With Baker and the George Brown offense firing on all cylinders, they will be a scary team to face when the provincial championship kicks off on Thursday afternoon. The Huskies will face Niagara in the quarter-finals, kick-off is scheduled for 12pm.

Aprille Deus (Women’s Basketball)

Deus picked up right where she left off last season in Saturday’s home opening 80-64 win over the Algonquin Thunder. The 5’5” fifth-year point guard dished out a team-best seven assists, poured in fourteen points and ran the offense smoothly in just under 25 minutes of play. After closing the 2016-17 campaign strong, the Huskies are looking to establish themselves as an Eastern Division contender early on, and if Saturday was any indication they are well on their way. Next up the Huskies will visit St. Lawrence on Friday night.
