George Brown soccer will play their regular season home finale on Friday night when they host the Sheridan Bruins at Esther Shiner Stadium.

For the men (5-2-1, 2nd central), it is an opportunity to lock up second spot in the central division and a crossover matchup with the western division's fourth seed. The Huskies are coming off a loss to Humber, the only program they have fallen to this season. After two close calls with the reigning national champs, there is little doubt that George Brown will be serious contenders at provincials.

Striker Filipe Vilela continues to lead the province in scoring with ten goals, and the return of Jerome Baker on Wednesday night adds another dimension to a potent frontline. The 6’0” first-year striker made a difference immediately against the Hawks, and at full strength the Huskies can find the back of the next with Canada’s best. Vilela is coming off a week in which he was named the OCAA men’s soccer athlete of the week.

George Brown is now assured to host a playoff crossover game on Sunday, October 22 with the opponent to be determined.

The women’s team (1-7, 5th central) had one of their more impressive performances of the season on Wednesday, a game that saw them going toe-to-toe with undefeated Humber for much of the first half. The Huskies have been stout at the defensive end, but struggled mightily to score.

George Brown is looking to finish the season strong against a couple of teams they have played tight, Sheridan and UTM. The Huskies pick up a win the last time they faced the Eagles, and will look to complete the season sweep next Wednesday. They fell 2-1 to Sheridan in September.

The women’s game kicks off at 6:30pm, men’s game at 8:30pm. Both games will be streamed live, click here to watch or follow @GBC_Huskies on twitter for updates throughout the night.
