George Brown College celebrated our
Sixth Annual World Mental Health Day forum on
Wednesday October 27th, 2004.
Our theme for 2004 was Mental Health in the
City: Urban Innovations. Bruce Mau, Toronto's renowned
urban designer, gave the opening address. We are delighted that
General Romeo Dallaire was our luncheon keynote speaker and that
he spoke on his own experiences with mental health problems.
The
day included panels on employment and housing. We had
an outstanding roster of speakers and panelists including Ron
Lalonde, Senior Executive Vice-President and Chief Administrative
Officer, CIBC; Diana Capponi, Client Employment Coordinator,
Centre for Addictions and Mental
Health; Bill Wilkerson, Global Business and Economic Roundtable
on Addictions and Mental Health; Janna Levitt, Levitt Goodman
Architects; and Victor Willis, Executive Director, Parkdale
Activity-Recreation Centre. Former Toronto Mayor, John
Sewell acted as moderator.
