The Grads
Genevieve Adam
GENEVIEVE ADAM

Born and raised in British Columbia, Genevieve began acting in order to alarm and befuddle her relations. Selected theatre credits include: the Princess of France, LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST; Lizzie, BLOOD RELATIONS; Celia, VOLPONE; Estragon, WAITING FOR GODOT; Mrs. Alving, GHOSTS; Constance, GOODNIGHT DESDEMONA, GOOD MORNING JULIET. She has lived in England and South Korea and enjoyed a madcap stint at the Tim Sims Playhouse as a sketch comedian.

BEN CLOST

Born in Ottawa and raised in various European countries, Ben is proud of his work at George Brown. Enjoying such roles as Heronimo in THE SPANISH TRAGEDY, Bosola in THE DUCHESS OF MALFI, the title role in KING JOHN, Mack in I AM YOURS, Joe in WAITING FOR LEFTY and Holofernese in LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST. Ben has created two original clown shows for the Tulip Festival in Ottawa and has been part of the Fringe Circuit in 1998, 1999 and 2000. He is also looking forward to playing Joey in the GBC/Equity Showcase production of ROAD.

Ben Clost
Sharmila Dey
SHARMILA DEY

Sharmila was born and raised in Toronto and has always made acting, dancing and singing a major part of her life. Currently in her final year at the George Brown Theatre, she recently performed the role of Maria in LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST directed by Joseph Ziegler and has also stage managed for the production HE SAID YES/HE SAID NO as part of last summer's Summerworks Festival. Other credits include: MONSTER MUNSCH at Hart House Theatre and EPIMENIDES at Trinity Basement Theatre. Future roles include Louise in ROAD by Jim Cartwright opening in February, a co-production with Equity Showcase Theatre. Sharmila is excited for the upcoming George Brown season and even more excited to graduate and become part of the big bad world!

MADELEINE DONOHUE
A native Torontonian, Madeleine has been showing off just about all her life, with varying degrees of success. When she grew bored with her fame in productions of the summer camp/backyard variety, she became a member of the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus, where she never got the good parts because she was too damned tall. During her years at a performing arts high school and in community theatre, Madeleine played such roles as Beatrice in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, Mercutio in ROMEO AND JULIET and the dead body in THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND. She also appeared in THE YAK STORY in last year's Fringe Festival. Favourite roles at George Brown include Alice Arden in ARDEN OF FEVERSHAM, Counselor Trudy in MONSTER MUNSCH, Miss Julie (title role) and Rosaline in LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST directed by Joseph Ziegler.

Jonathan Geenen
JONATHAN GEENEN

Jonathan came to George Brown from Sault Ste. Marie. He recently played the role of Berowne in Shakespeare's LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST directed by Joseph Ziegler. Other favourite roles include Malchior in SPRING AWAKENING, Konstantin in THE SEAGULL, Joe Bonaparte in GOLDEN BOY, Sir. Andrew in TWELFTH NIGHT, Listener in Beckett's OHIO IMPROMPTU and the title role in VOLPONE. He enjoys playing sports during the free time he has.

PHILIP KNIGHT
In his last year of high school, Philip appeared in two plays at the Stratford Festival before moving on to George Brown: JULIUS CAESAR and THE CHERRY ORCHARD. Some of his favourite characters at theatre school were Cassius, Oswald (GHOSTS), Arden (OF FEVERSHAM) and Estragon. This year he played Longueville in LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST and is preparing to play Brink in the Equity co-production of ROAD by Jim Cartwright. In this year's Summerworks, he played Boy in HE SAID YES/HE SAID NO, produced by Chimera Theatre Company. It has all been incredibly fun and genuinely enlightening.

Philip Knight
Neil Mathews NEIL MATHEWS
Prior to moving to Toronto to train at George Brown, Neil, a bona fide Anglophone from Montreal, graduated from McGill University with a BA in English and Drama, experienced a summer at the Banff Centre learning stagecraft, and worked for two years in the book retail industry. Needless to say, Neil was more than ready to commit himself to the journey of self-discovery and spiritual rejuvenation offered at theatre school. During his time at George Brown, Neil has told dirty jokes as Davey in GENERATIONS, questioned his self-worth as Uncle Vanya, bared his bottom as Hodge in GAMMER GURTON'S NEEDLE, and, recently, sported a fake beard as the swaggering Don Armado in LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST. Neil looks forward to the future and to becoming a part of the performing arts in Canada.

SHAWN McDOWELL
Shawn was raised in a medium-small Northern Ontario city which, to this day, thrives on its various forms of theatre. He had the express fortune to play many assorted roles including Mozart in AMADEUS, Lt. Ralph Clarke in OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD, the director in NOISES OFF, Cassio in THE OTHELLO PROJECT and Danny in GREASE. Moving on to theatre school, he was given the opportunity to try on a few other pairs of shoes, namely, Astrov in UNCLE VANYA and Mosea in VOLPONE. In recent productions with the Nipissing Stage Company in North Bay, he took on Einstein in PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE and Jonathan Harken in THE PASSION OF DRACULA. Most recently, he played Dumain in the opening show of the George Brown showcase season - LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST.

Jeffrey Patterson
JEFFREY PATTERSON

Born and raised in Stouffville, Ontario, Jeff began his actor training in Unionville High School's Arts York programme. He is now excited to be a part of the graduating class at George Brown. Recent credits include Sir. Nathaniel in LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, the Fart Monster in MONSTER MUNSCH, Mosby in THE ARDEN OF FEVERSHAM and Trofimov in THE CHERRY ORCHARD. When not in school, Jeff has kept busy working part-time in theatres across the city, and enjoys escaping up north to ski instruct.

JUDAH PURCELL

Having survived Ontario's wild outback, Mississauga, Judah is thrilled to have finally hit the big city. It was in Mississauga where he appeared in his first starring role as Charlie in FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON and had his first taste of Shakespeare as RICHARD III. His favourite roles at George Brown include De Flores in THE CHANGELING, Costard in LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST and Sir. Petronel Flash in EASTWARD HO! His other roles include Moe in AWAKE AND SING! and Jacob in GHOSTS. Offstage he is often found playing the piano or editing film.

Her thirst for knowledge drove her on and she is now thrilled to be a part of the 2002 graduating class. Her favourite roles at George Brown have included Lady M in MACBETH, Irina in THE SEAGULL, Potzzo in WAITING FOR GODOT, Gertrude in EASTWARD HO! and Isabella in THE SPANISH TRAGEDY. Nadene had a great time in LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST playing Katherine and is looking forward to her upcoming role as Carol in ROAD. Nadene would like to thank everyone who has supported and pushed her towards her goals.
