Shannon M. My first day of school back in January 2005 was the best and worst experience. I’m new to Toronto and it took me about an hour and a half to get to the school from Union Station. Then when I finally got into the school I couldn’t find my classes. I was so frustrated I started crying on the patio. This guy Rob came up to me and asked me what was wrong. I told him my story and he gave me a huge hug and took me around the school and showed me all my classes. We are best friends now, almost inseparable. I couldn’t imagine my life now without him.

My Best Experiences Grab Bag

Stephanie M. My best experience was being stuck in the elevator. Everyone was freaking out and I was just laughing. The elevator skipped 2 floors and got stuck. And, I was walking and talking and I looked back for a minute, then I smashed into a locker.

Marie M. Getting locked in the Library. Getting the best grades in my life and hunger for knowledge just grows by the day.

Karthiga P. My best experiences have been my Class teachers and Fear Factor. I like my teachers because they taught me well and I am not feeling boring. I like the Fear-Factor show also. They did the good job. :D

Sarah D. When I was studying math in the library at the beginning of the year, the staff forgot to tell me they were closing up. This resulted in me getting locked in. the security gate was shut and locked and it took ten minutes to call security up to get me out.

Maria A. Waking up at 4:00 am to get to class by 8, only because I see so many other sleep-deprived students such as myself going through the same tiring, tedious commute to get their education. It’s funny, and sometimes inspiring.

Meaghan D. Having chef Ian Gallacher for my lab teacher has been fantastic. I am naturally clumsy, but he is more so, so it makes me feel better about myself when he hurts himself in ridiculous ways.

Justin S. I like school, school is fun. I gained many experiences. In conclusion: school is fun and cool! Thank you! P.S. I like nutrition class.

My Best Experience at George Brown: School Pride

Nicole V. Completing my first year upper denture was my best experience. I am proud of it.

Rowena M. Being away from school for a long time, I would say that my best experience is going to a very good school who supports students. Also, meeting different kinds of people, young and old from a diversity of nativities. That is my best experience: being young again!

Tamara S. Clinical work. People working on campus are very friendly and helpful. Student services does a great job – however it would be nice if there were more people answering the phone at the switch board.

As well as professors who were trying to help me and fellow students in any way they can so we can have a better understanding of the material. Maninder S. It is a wonderful college. A lot of opportunities. The staff is too good and use latest and efficient teaching techniques. The students at George Brown are good too. The gym is good too. The girls in the college are cool too.

Munga H. To learn to be open minded. I thought my mind was limited and now I realize there is a lot to learn and the sky is the limit. You never know til you try. To be with people from all over the world and to learn about other cultures.

Thamy A. Coming from India (A domestic Student) and getting to know about Canada and George Brown and got my dean’s honours for getting an average of over 3.5 for all my three semesters so far.

Yasid G. The diversity of the school is unlike any other. Also, having come from a University setting, I am really pleased with the high level of organization and professionalism. Also, the real world experiences in the classroom is A+, I did not experience the technical aspect at University which is definitely present here.

Kyle N. Mechatronics II was a fulfilling course, giving me the knowledge and hands on experience I need to get ahead in the work force. The teachers have also helped me with developing skills for socialize in the work place. The bar scene has helped develop social skills, which is vital to our enjoying our lives.

Firstly, GBC has provided me with a very comfortable experience, one that has allowed me to express my views and ideas without fear. Secondly, I have made many friends here and have had a lot of crazy fun with them, both in and out of school. Thirdly, the relationships with my professors has also made my stay here extremely enjoyable: they know my name and have a personality, and they are very approachable, allowing me to put great faith in them and the school. Lastly, it has given me the courage to go out and apply for the presidency of the student Engineering Association… HATS OFF TO GBC!

When I had my car accident in first term, I felt like dropping the course. However, with the comfort offered by my professors and the encouragement of my fellow students, I was able to continue in the course and made it to the top of the class.

My best experience with programs

Lu-a P. My experience is really good. I did a lot of thing like Jewel stuff, it was really fun. The school system was well prepared and organized, so I could learn so many things about jewelry in a few months. It was good.

Tang S. I’m a gemology student. I got a lot of experience George Brown college since I’ve studied in this program. I learned a lot of useful things, such as how to decide whether the stone is synthetic or natural. This is very good for me to know more about gemstones in my life. I really got much experience from this program and from my professor. My classmates are very nice. People in George Brown college are very nice too.

Marla D. Ani and all dealing with the Fitness and Lifestyle Management Faculty: by far the most empathetic, energetic, earnest faculty I have ever studied with. OOO- and Debbie from Student services Rocks. AND rolls.

Amrinder S. As a student of this college I have learned many things and chose this college only for the sake of studies, but when I started I got many things which I miss in my life. Here I met students, especially students from different countries. I learn many things about these countries’ histories.

It really gives a sense of community to the program and allows for you to network with other students and it’s not just psych, it’s all the courses: they’re geared around the students and that’s what makes it so interesting.

Chris L. My best experience was the Event Planning Project which involved organizing a show.

Sasha M. Getting to work with clients for the first time. It was nerve wracking at first, but I later realized that there was nothing too complicated about it.

Jessica Q. Just before the Christmas break, we had the opportunity to have a party with some of the older students. I thought it was a lot of fun meeting people from our program and being able to socialize with others.

Randy D. Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and members of the healthcare team in my clinical placements. I’ve had the opportunity to have a compassionate impact on other persons, successfully advocate for patient desires and needs, and, overall feel that this experience has validated my choice to be a registered practical Nurse.

Jen C. Coming to George Brown College, getting into the best program of my life and making new friends in the process. My best experience happened on the first day, when I was made very welcome. The acting programs have made me want to stay at the college.

Diana S. Successfully completing one full year of the ECE program. I met a few friends that have made an impact on my life. I have experienced hands-on work at four different childcare centres. All four placements have been a positive experience for me where I have made great connections with the staff, as well as the children and their families. I even babysit a few of the children that I have made positive connections with. Thus these almost two years of George Brown have been a great experience.

Sheila V. My first semester religion class. I enjoy the subject and I learned more than I thought I could. The first semester was amazing because the faculty made everyone feel welcome and the fact that they gave items away I found really comforting that they thought of the students and made George Brown feel like their own place.

My best experience with teachers

So I went to the disability faculty and found out that they were able to help my with my situation. With their help I found out that I do have ADHD, but a mild case, and was very pleased. I now know that the problems I have are serious and that I can get help so I can do better in my studies. Thanks so much GBC!
