Workshop Description

DISCover Effective Communication Series

"Rediscover Yourself" as you embark on a journey of finding out more about your natural working and communications style using DiSC as a tool. This is the first workshop of series of three workshops that will lead participants to a Certificate of Completion in our "Discover Communications" Series. Many staff have already participated in this workshop and has found it fun and informative.

DISC Working Styles Inventory

Prior to the workshop, you will be asked to complete an on-line questionnaire. You will be able to print your answers and bring them to the workshop. During the workshop, you will receive your personalized summary of your communication style. The workshop will focus entirely upon how you can interpret and use those results to further the work that you do.

Adapting to Different Styles

Part 2 of DiSCover Communication

How many times has someone gotten upset with you because they misunderstood your intensions? How many times have people misread your tone, your mood, or your approach? Was there a small change that you could have made that would have prevented all the confusion? Too often, that insight comes too little too late. This course is designed to help participants grasp that insight before misunderstanding occurs, not after. The DISC model will help you understand some of the most important aspects of human perception and interaction. You will learn to see the characteristics of each DISC style and understand their unique preferences. But most importantly, you will recognize how your behaviour is likely to be misread and learn how to adjust your communication to meet the needs and styles of others around you.
Pre-requisite- you must have completed the DISC Working Styles inventory prior to taking this course.

Your Style in Conflict

Part 3 of DiSCover Communication
We have our own goals, our own fears, and our own ways to get what we need. This module helps you understand your reactions to conflict and how these reactions affect those around you. It also helps you discover more constructive ways to deal with conflict.
