Overview:

The office of Organizational and Staff Development encourages and assists Support Staff in career-long learning to achieve excellence in service delivery, learning, communications, and leadership.

We contribute to the education of our students by fostering support staff commitment to ongoing professional development across the college community. Aligned with the strategic imperatives of the college and Human Resources, we contribute to a positive learning and working culture. Support staff work in a variety of diverse roles and have various responsibilities within the college. Our goal is to encourage diligence, cohesion and enthusiasm for the college community. To achieve this, we support the development and refinement of knowledge and skills through workshops, consultations, and other customized learning to build organizational capacity.

Tuition Assistance Program

The Tuition Assistance Program is specifically intended to encourage and assist our staff to obtain further educational qualifications. Progressive professional development and training practices support, reflect, and are aligned with the College’s Mission, Values, and Strategic Plans.

Internal Learning and Development

Internal learning and development are resources that are available for support staff’s professional development. They include workshops, seminars, courses and events that are offered through the Organizational and Staff Development department or other departments at the college. Please review the PD Catalogue for more information on types of programming offered.

    • The Development and Performance Review provides both supervisor and employee the opportunity for a comprehensive discussion of the overall development and performance of the employee and to recognize the importance of the individual’s contribution to the College in the context of the College’s mission and strategic objectives. The Development and Performance Review Form is designed to be used in conjunction with the Position Description Form for the position.

Professional Development Leave – Support Staff (download from Insite)

  • The Development and Performance Review provides both supervisor and employee the opportunity for a comprehensive discussion of the overall development and performance of the employee and to recognize the importance of the individual’s contribution to the College in the context of the College’s mission and strategic objectives. The Development and Performance Review Form is designed to be used in conjunction with the Position Description Form for the position. The leave period can be from one to twelve months. Employees may receive up to a maximum of 80% of their regular salary during professional developmental leave. The amount of salary received is contingent upon the years of service since hire or since the last sabbatical.

External Learning and Development

External learning and development are not sponsored by the college. They are additional resources that staff can access for their own professional development. The resources listed below are not affiliated with the college and may not be relevant for all support staff.  Please speak to your manager about participating in external opportunities as part of your professional development.
