George Brown College Employee Identification and Access Card Program
George Brown College's new Staff Access/ID Card program is intended to help create a safe and secure environment for the staff and students of the college. Using a new technology card, the College's Staff ID card is being modified to expand its functionality - taking it beyond its current uses as a staff identification and LLC borrowers card to include keyless entry to offices, classrooms, labs and other authorized areas. The new card format will enable other potential uses as well.
Program Roll-out
The program initially will be rolled out at the Waterfront Campus with all faculty and staff scheduled to work at the new campus receiving their card by the end of August, 2012. Beginning late September, the new cards will be issued to eligible faculty and staff at the other campuses.
Attention: Health Science Faculty and Staff
As for the first step of the ID card renewal process, the Photo-ID Office would like to invite all Health Sciences staff and those employees whose positions are being transferred to the new campus to update your pictures. Two options have been developed for updating your photo either On-line or On-site. March 1st to 31st has been designated as Photo Capture Month for future Waterfront occupants so don't delay in updating your picture!

Please check the website for criteria regarding the required quality and specifications for photos and then follow the 5 easy steps to upload your photo. For the best result, please use camera resolution between 2MB to 5BM, and take your picture and crop just like a passport photo.

PRIVACY & Your Staff Access/ID Card
Protection of your privacy is a key element of the GBC Staff Access/ID Card. The Staff Access/ID card displays only first and last names and photographs. No other personal information or personal identifiers are visible on the card as would be the case if you used other forms of government-issued identification for college purposes.
Other information required for Access/ID purposes is both limited in scope and stored in a dedicated database that is accessible only by a "reader" using a pre-printed barcode and barcode number on the back of the Card. This information which includes your photo, name, department, division and campus, along with your supervisor's name, and employment status (e.g. active, on leave, etc.) will be accessible by Campus Security for their access control system for purposes of keyless entry.
Privacy of Personal Information Policy
The information collected to produce your Staff Access/ID card, including the photograph, is used for college processes only including access to facilities, services, resources and activities as well as the production of a range of directories for internal College use. Staff Access/ID Card EligibilityAll full-time and part-time faculty and staff, with the exception of temporary and supply staff, contractors, continuing education instructors and student employees, are eligible to obtain the Staff Access/ID card.
