How Not to Get Your Grrr On - Anger is simply an emotion that all of us experience. What can be destructive and scary about anger is how it is expressed. In this workshop we will look at what underlies the emotion of anger, ways of understanding anger and how to find healthy, constructive ways to manage our anger. How Not To Read Your Text Book Do you know the difference between a novel and textbook? Are you behind
in your assigned readings, coloring the pages in with highlighter, not
having any idea what you just read? Read smarter not longer. Learn how
your texts can help you read and learn more effectively. Learning and Study Strategies will explore strategies based on brain research to help you study smarter not longer. Learn a strategy to keep up with weekly reading assignments and turn class time into learning time. Map Out Your Career Path workshop aims to help you gain
control of your future and become aware of what you need to do to plan
out your career. You will learn Memory: Tips & Tricks Find out how memory works and practice using proven strategies. In- creasing memory skills is not about the ability to remember - It is about choosing the right strategy. Netiquette, or “network etiquette” in a
high tech world will help increase your awareness of issues related to
sending emails, text messages, and using your cell phone, mp3 player,
laptop or any other gadget you own appropriately and effectively in the
College or a work setting. Succeeding as a Mature Student is a workshop that will allow mature students to share ideas about their unique challenges as students and learn effective ways to be successful at College. Succeeding as a Second Career Student: If you are a Second Career Student, come to this workshop to meet other students in the Second Career program. This workshop will give you an opportunity to learn and share ideas and information about the program as well as gain effective strategies to be successful during your College experience. Three Steps to Effective Presentations - Getting Started (organizing), Assessing Strengths (designing the format), Communicating Effectively (appealing to all sensory modalities). If that makes sense to you, join us to share and discuss strategies. If that scares you, join us to learn how you can deliver an effective presentation, regardless of your speaking ability. Time Management will provide you with helpful information
and strategies around managing your time. Using techniques learned in
the workshop, you will begin to develop your own approach to managing
your priorities. Worrying can be both valuable and debilitating Discover the benefits of shifting your negative thoughts and worries into a more positive and productive way of thinking. Understanding Your Learning Style will explore your strengths in learning and help you recognize how you best take in and understand new learning for optimum use of your class and study time. Understanding
Your Learning Style is also offered online. What’s What: Get Organized: Do you want to figure out how to organize you schoolwork? Come and discover how simple it can be. You will learn easy techniques that will help you succeed in your college program. All workshops are not offered on every calendar.
