George Brown College’s James Simon to direct the Raymond Storey epic.

TORONTO (September 29, 2008) – The George Brown College Theatre School opens its 2008-09 season with the Toronto premiere of Raymond Storey’s sweeping epic South of China.  This Canadian work centres on two men, one British and one Canadian, who leave the comforts of home to seek their fortunes and tackle the exotic world of Malaysia in the 1930s.  South of China won Edmonton’s Sterling Award for Best New Play after it first appeared at the Citadel Theatre in 1997.

Simon is the Artistic Director at the School of Performing Arts and George Brown and has been at the College since 2000.

Other creative artists in the production include: Lindsay C. Walker (set and costume design), Michelle Ramsay (lighting design) and Debbie Read (stage manager).
