George Brown College Present
"PEACE OF CAKE 2006"

(Toronto, December 4, 2006) - It's the time of year again for the faculty, staff and students at George Brown College to get to work in the kitchens of GBC's Chef School to bake an impressive selection of delicious holiday goodies in the spirit of giving.

Led by Pastry Chef Ian Gallacher, Coordinator of the Pastry Arts Program, the College's volunteers will be joined by volunteers from the Canadian Armed Services to assemble nearly 1,500 gift baskets filled to the brim with the best treats of the season, including Director of the Chef School, John Higgins' famous fruitcake, created when he worked at Buckingham Palace. This year, the PEACE of Cake baskets will be distributed to war veterans at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto's Pathways to Education, Yonge St. Mission and the Salvation Army's Regent Park Charity Kitchen.
