George Brown College plays a key role in providing students with the tools they need to realize their career and life goals. Programs are dedicated to recognizing each student’s unique accomplishments and challenges while providing all students with the upgrading and specialized courses that will facilitate entrance and successful outcomes in their chosen area of post-secondary study as well as within the workplace.
HOW OUR PROGRAMS HELP STUDENTS
Our wide variety of innovative programs enable students to make successful transitions into the
education system, ensuring that when George Brown College speaks of academic and social excellence, there are options for each
student’s unique needs.
Programming includes:
- Skills upgrading in English, math or science for the pursuit of education or work
- “Pre” programs – two-semester certificate programs that give students the tools they need to begin their college education, to communicate with confidence and to take the first step in pursuing a career in their chosen field
- Programs for people who have experienced mental health issues and/or addictions histories to prepare them for work re-entry or further education
- Programming that assists high school graduates who have faced academic challenges to upgrade their workplace entry skills
- Support for a diverse group of students who face barriers and/or may require specialized services, including Aboriginal students, mental health system survivors, immigrants and the differently abled
- A program for internationally trained individuals who have been trained in health care professions to help them prepare for employment in health care in Ontario
- Academic advisory services, career preparation and student support and success strategies, interwoven throughout the courses.
