Although
George Brown has no student residence, Toronto is a huge city with
a wide array of accommodations for students.
TYPES OF HOUSING FOR GEORGE BROWN STUDENTS
- Rent rooms or flats in private houses.
- Share a rented multi-room
apartment or house with other students.
- Rent your own apartment.
- Live in a college/university
or independent student residence such as Neill-Wycik Co-op College
or Best Western Toronto's
Primrose Hotel/Residence.
COSTS
Sharing with other students can cost $400 to $600 a month in rent.
Apartments cost $550 to $700 for a bachelor (one room plus kitchen
and bathroom) and well over $1,000 for big apartments. Housing
downtown tends to be more expensive than outlying areas. Parking
is expensive near George Brown campuses, so public transportation
is a good bet. A monthly Metropass offering unlimited travel on
Toronto subways, buses and streetcars currently costs $98.50 a
month.
TIMING
Start looking for a place to live two months before the start of
classes. That means looking in July for September classes. Be
prepared to spend a couple of days for viewing locations.

the Housing Registry that we share with The University of Toronto
