"Thank-you for your interest in
the Toronto Youth Summit. We have received an overwhelming response
to this event and unfortunately can no longer accept new registrations.
If you would like to be contacted about future events, please
send your request and contact information to youthsummit@georgebrown.ca."
The Toronto Youth Summit is a one-and-a-half day event that
has been planned to solicit your comments and suggestions on how
to improve such issues as: Homelessness/Affordable Housing, Youth
Violence, Transportation, Community Support Services, Getting
a Job, Political Participation, Queer Issues, Institutional Discrimination,
and the Arts, Music and Media in Toronto. See the Workshop
Descriptions. In addition we have invited the Mayoral Candidates
to give us their views on the city and to provide you with an
opportunity to meet with them, ask questions and hopefully start
some specific initiatives to improve our lives in Toronto.
This event is being organized in partnership with the Toronto City Summit Alliance,
who recently unveiled a report entitled "Enough Talk: An Action Plan
for the Toronto Region". The report can be read at www.torontocitysummit.ca and
is a good background reference for the Toronto Youth Summit. Suggestions
and ideas resulting from the Toronto Youth Summit will be presented to the
Toronto City Summit Alliance Steering Committee when they meet in June.
This is your opportunity to make your voice heard, create
change, meet some interesting people, network and engage in interesting
dialogue with smart, engaged youth. |
