Canadian Nursing Student Association (CNSA)
The George Brown Chapter welcomes you to the CNSA! The CNSA is the national voice of Canadian nursing students, and our aim is to increase the
legal, ethical, professional, and educational aspects of nursing. To learn more about the CNSA, please visit the national website at www.cnsa.ca.
Although the CNSA George Brown Chapter is fairly new (est. 2004), there has been exceptional drive and dedication by the student members to accomplish
the following great ideas:
- Assisting with first/second year orientation (and second year transition to Ryerson for students in the Collaborative Nursing
degree program)
- CPR and First Aid classes (Please see www.firstaideducation.ca for course dates and times)
- Guest speakers from a variety of different nursing organizations and specialties
- Promoting conferences and encouraging and assisting students to attend them
- Fundraising activities (t-shirts, Sweaters, Waffle Breakfasts, CPR Certifications – www.firstaideducation.ca)
- Maintaining a strong link between the CNSA and nursing organizations (i.e. RNAO/NSO)
- Promoting social events to increase awareness and interest regarding the nursing program

board located on the 7th floor located in the St. James Building.
Our office is located at 200 King Street on the 8th floor in

CNSA Elections
It is that time of the year for elections for the Canadian Nursing Student Association (CNSA) George Brown Chapter. If you would like to run
for a position please pick up a nomination form from the Centre for Nursing (7th Floor) Reception in September. For any questions or concerns,
please contact the Official Delegate (President) at gbrown@cnsa.ca.
CNSA Award – Peer Nominated Award
The Canadian Nursing Students Association (CNSA) is the voice of the nursing students in Canada. For over thirty years, the CNSA
has represented the interests of nursing students to federal and provincial governments and other nursing organizations. In addition to this,
the association has a vision, which includes the concepts/goals of professionalism, leadership, visibility, education, and advocacy.
The recipient of the $150.00 GBC CNSA Awards for Leadership and Advocacy will be any student from the Collaborative BSCN program or the
PN program who demonstrates excellence in the following criteria based on the CNSA principles and objectives;
- Has demonstrated strong and effective communication skills by acting as a liaison between faculty and fellow students
- Advocates on behalf of their peers
- Has displayed strong leadership skills

NSO (Nursing Students of
Ontario)
The NSO (Nursing Students of Ontario) is an
interest group of the Registered Nurses Association
of Ontario (RNAO). Its aim is to address issues of particular
importance to nursing students in
Ontario.
Focus:
- To increase student awareness of RNAO's philosophy, mission,
objectives, structure, programs and services.
- To encourage
student participation in RNAO by focusing on involvement
in local and provincial nursing student
interest groups.
- To improve accessibility to RNAO for nursing students.
- To promote
unity among Ontario nursing students through communication
and collaboration with other nursing
student organizations.
- To provide a forum which encourages the professional
growth of nursing students
Membership is open to all
nursing students in Ontario who are members of the
RNAO. This includes students from
colleges and universities, baccalaureate and post-RN.
