Child and Youth Care program receives national accreditation

George Brown College's Child and Youth Care (CYC) program has earned national accreditation, becoming the first accredited program of its kind in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and the third in Canada.

The Child and Youth Care Educational Accreditation Board of Canada Open New Browser Window announced its recognition of George Brown's program in May 2017, after 12-month process that included a curriculum review, engagement with students, faculty and external partners, and on-site interviews.

"Having achieved this level of national recognition shows that the CYC program at George Brown College is committed to engaging with national partners to deliver quality education and to advancing the Child and Care profession," says CYC Professor and Program Coordinator Andrew Buntin.

George Brown's CYC diploma program helps students develop the necessary skills to work effectively with at-risk youth who are experiencing social, emotional, developmental and behavioural difficulties.
