Portfolio Information for the Jewellery Arts Program (F114)


PORTFOLIO REVIEW INSTRUCTIONS

Your portfolio gives you an opportunity to display your talent and potential, it also provides us with an insight into your ability to follow instructions, and your organization and problem-solving skills.

Following are the portfolio guidelines and criteria, which will be used to evaluate your portfolio.

PORTFOLIO PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

  • Your portfolio should be securely presented in a handmade or commercial book / folder / case clearly labelled with your full name, GBC student number, home phone number and mailing address
  • The portfolio cannot exceed 28" L X 17.5" W X 3". Portfolio's exceeding this will not be accepted
  • Each piece of work in the portfolio should also be clearly labelled with relevant information including dimensions, media, date of completion and substrate (i.e. paper, canvas, masonite, etc.)
  • Include a short rationale with each piece of why the work was created (200 words maximum)
  • For digital work, list the software used in its creation
  • Do not include framed pieces in your portfolio


PORTFOLIO CONTENT GUIDELINES

  • Your portfolio should contain a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 samples of your creative work in a variety of media
  • Options might include: 2D - oil, acrylic, watercolour, pen and ink, charcoal, pencil drawings, selected sketchbook photocopies, coloured pencil, pastels, digital work, photography, printmaking; 3D - jewellery, metalwork, sculpture, ceramics, furniture or clothing, etc.
  • Large format and 3D work (large paintings, sculpture, furniture or clothing) should be documented and included as images
  • If websites or other digital work are included they must be printed
  • At least one finished piece in your portfolio must include all preliminary work (ie. research, roughs, thumbnails) - this would be best presented on an accompanying page to the finished piece


PORTFOLIO RETURN GUIDELINES

Portfolios will be returned only if packaging and post is supplied

  • Include stamped self-addressed packaging with your portfolio
  • Portfolios not able to be returned will be discarded
  • Evaluation of your portfolio will take up to three weeks
