About Us

Jewellery and Gemmology
Jewellery is one of humankind's oldest forms of expression and one that continues to play an integral role in contemporary society. Those who enter this vibrant field require knowledge of current materials and processes, skillful and creative use of those materials and processes, and the ability to work in today's ever-changing workplace.

The Jewellery Essentials Certificate Program (one-year) focuses on a solid grounding in the essential jewellery-making skills. The Jewellery Methods Diploma Program (two-year) advances the essential goldsmithing skills and introduces specific and challenging applications of these skills. The Jewellery Arts Diploma Program (three-year) develops the skills necessary for the designer, as well as maker of jewellery. The Gemmology Certificate Program prepares students for professional accreditation as gemmologists, and a career in gemmology and appraisal.

Graduates of our programs work in every aspect of the jewellery industry from wholesale to retail, from precious metals and stones to costume and fashion jewellery materials, and from large manufacturing businesses to small independent businesses.

  • George Brown College has one of the largest and best-equipped jewellery education facilities in North America.
  • Common courses across programs and jewellery specialization options allow for flexibility in accomplishing education goals.
  • Faculty are experts who stay current with new developments in the field and are active as jewellery professionals.
  • Each year a number of industry-sponsored awards are granted to students based on project work.

Faculty & Staff
In addition to being dedicated and committed educators, our faculty have received recognition for their jewellery through exhibitions and national and international awards.
