How to
Apply

Admission Requirements:
For admission to a post-secondary program
(diploma/certificate/postgraduate/degree), the applicant must:
- Have graduated from senior secondary school or equivalent; or graduated
from a university or college if applying for a postgraduate program
- Be 18 years of age or older at time of registration.
- If you are under 18, you must submit custodianship
documents and a senior secondary high school graduation certificate.
- Pay the non-refundable $65 application
fee
- Provide proof of English proficiency,
if English is not the first language in your country and was not
the language of instruction in your school

When to Apply:
Most programs begin in September or January. Many programs fill quickly, so
we recommend that you apply at least six months in advance. However, applications
received closer to the start date will be considered if there is space available
in the program.
Steps to Apply:
APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE INTERNATIONAL CENTRE AT THE COLLEGE:
Step 1 Complete the International
Student Application Form. This form can be obtained from:

the Application Form to the George Brown College International Centre
with the $65 application fee and Supporting Documents*
Step 3 Letter
of Acceptance issued
Step 4 Apply
for a Study Permit (Visa)
Step 5 Sign
and return your Program Confirmation Form with payment
Step 6 Register
for your program and complete
course selection through Stu-View

* Supporting documents
required for post-secondary programs:
- Translated and notarized diploma/transcripts of senior secondary
school and/or other level of post-secondary education completed
- Proof of English proficiency such as TOEFL, IELTS, MELAB,
CAEL etc.
- Portfolios and/or interview for some programs, such as Graphic Design,
Fashion Design, and Early Childhood Education.
Study Permits/Temporary Resident
Visa
If you want to study in Canada for more than 6 months you must
apply for a Study Permit.
A Temporary Resident Visa (Visitor Visa) - not a study permit - is sufficient
if you want to study for 6 months or less.
Study Permits are not issued from within Canada. You must apply to Citizenship
and Immigration Canada (CIC) which is located in your nearest Canadian
Embassy, High Commission or Consulate. Official information on requirements
should be obtained from a CIC office in Canada, a Canadian Embassy or
consulate overseas or from the CIC website at http://www.cic.gc.ca
Homestay
If you require Homestay Accommodation (with optional Airport Pick-up),
please make sure that we receive your completed Homestay
Application Form (.pdf)
at least two weeks before your arrival date.
Health Insurance
Health insurance is mandatory for all international students. You will be automatically
enrolled in the college insurance program and charged. For more detailed
information please check the Student Association's homepage at
http://sa.georgebrown.ca/service-health-plan.aspx.
The cost is CAD $532 per year (see table below)
for post-secondary students and CAD $108 per 8 week session for Intensive
English Program Students.

equipment/tools are also not included in the tuition fees charged by the College. |
