After You Apply

    After we receive your complete application it will be reviewed by our admissions officers once the admissions cycle has begun. For programs that require review by the academic department (under Divisional Selection) it may take longer to process your application.

    Letter of Acceptance

    If all required documents and payments are in order, we will issue a Letter of Acceptance. This letter must be included in your Study Permit (visa) application to the Canadian Immigration Office at the Canadian Embassy or Consulate.

    Study Permit

    After receiving a letter of acceptance, you must apply for a study permit. Please note that Study Permits are not issued inside Canada. You must apply online or at the nearest Canadian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate. Official information on requirements can be obtained from a CIC office in Canada, a Canadian Embassy or Consulate overseas and/or the CIC website at:

    Note: If you are transferring from high school to college studies, you must apply for and receive a new Study Permit for postsecondary level studies before beginning classes at the College.

    Work Permits

    If your program includes a co-op position or any kind of field education(co-op, externship, practicum, clinical, etc.), regardless of length, you must apply for a co-op work permit as well as a study permit. You can learn more about how to apply for a co-op work permit on the CIC website:

    Please note that a small number of programs may not be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit due to the % of online delivery in the program.  Please check with Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) to confirm eligibility.

    Confirmation and Registration

    Login to your account at to make the required fee payment by the deadline and accept your offer to confirm your seat. When registration opens for your program, register for your program and complete course selection at

    All George Brown students are given an e-mail address which must be activated. Activate your account after you register for your courses and before classes begin.

    It is vital that you activate this account because important notices from the College, including your invoices, assignments from your teachers, and communications from College staff will be made through your George Brown e-mail account.
