The Dean's Recognition program has been designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom, while contributing to the success of the George Brown, Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (CHCA).
Here are some benefits to you if you become an active participant in the Dean’s Recognition Program. By volunteering you will get the following:
- Certificate and signed letter from Dean after the meeting the requirements (earn 5 Dean’s Credits). This is great to have when applying for future jobs!
- Chance to meet other CHCA students and make friends
- Chance to meet industry people at events
- Opportunity to showcase your leadership skills
- Reference letters for scholarship applications
- Dean’s Recognition First Impressions Strengths Based Leadership Training Program
- Opportunity to give back to the community
- External volunteer opportunities (I.e. Ontario Hostelry Institute Awards Gala Evening, etc.)

Who can join?
Anyone who is a current student enrolled in a program at the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts. Our Dean’s students are enthusiastic, helpful and are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and help out!
How does it work?
Students who volunteer for this program will be required to assist with a minimum of 5* different functions throughout the academic year (like Orientation, Student Awards, and other industry events) in order to successfully complete the program.
* Note: credits would be tracked for each academic year – beginning September 1st ending August 31st.
