Will donations from this campaign still be matched? Yes. The Ontario government is committed to matching this campaign's donations dollar for dollar.

When is the deadline to make a donation? The deadline in March 31st, 2012.

What about pledges for 2013/14 and beyond? No decisions have been made by the province about matching pledges for future campaigns.

How can I make a donation that will be matched dollar for dollar? Call Jessica McGann at 416-415-5000 ext. 3709.

Is there a new grant program? Yes. The 30% Off Tuition Grant will aim to provide eligible Ontario students with a rebate of 30% the price of their tuition. For more information, visit www.ontario.ca.

Cancellation of OTSS Initiative Announced

Premier McGuinty has announced a new grant program for University and College students which will aim to provide some students with a 30% break on tuition. To fund the program in part, the government has decided to eliminate the Ontario Trust for Student Support initiative (OTSS), which matches endowment donations dollar for dollar.

While they are committed to honouring donations for the current campaign ending March 31st 2012, this will be the final year of the OTSS matching program. This development presents us with a unique opportunity to take advantage of the 1-to-1 matching while it still exists. Last year, George Brown led Ontario colleges by increasing its endowment funds by more than $3 million. $1 million of this came from our generous donors, and the Ontario government provided enhanced matching funds. Continuing to grow our endowments will significantly increase the number of scholarships the College can provide each year for students in need.

George Brown College Foundation directly supports the College and its students through:

annual awards to deserving students
endowed student support programs in which donations are matched by our Provincial government
tribute and memorial gifts, bequests and corporate matching programs
capital campaigns and related projects to enrich the College experience.
