To be considered for any of the awards listed below, students must apply by selecting Divisional Winter Awards through STU-VIEW and be enrolled full-time in a Health Science Program.

School of Dental Health

Alan Moore Memorial Scholarship

Bernafon Canada has donated funds for the establishment of the Alan Moore Memorial Scholarship. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in the Centre for Health Sciences who are in their 1st year or 2nd Year for the following program(s): S117

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must maintain a 2.5 Min GPA or higher
  • Student must have completed the first semester of their program, and be enrolled in second semester or beyond
  • Student must exhibit academic improvement based on their academic performance in their first year of the program.

Altima Dental Awards for Excellence 

Altima Dental is offering an award specifically to the Centre for Health Sciences, School of Dental Health, Dental Assisting Program and Dental Hygiene, and to the School of Health Services Management, Dental Office Administration. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Registered, full-time domestic and/or international student status 
  • Have submitted an application for full-time studies at George Brown College and received a GBC student number 
  • Demonstrates excellent academic standing with a program GPA of 3.5 or higher 
  • Participates enthusiastically in the program and shows a passion for the dental profession  
  • Preference can be given to those students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the institution’s policies 

Program Eligibility: 

Centre for Health Sciences, School of Dental Health, Dental Assisting Program (S113) and Dental Hygiene (S134), and to the School of Health Services Management, Dental Office Administration (S115).

Aurum Group Award for Excellence in Denturism 

Aurum Group will present One (1) award to one (1) full-time graduating student in the Denturism Lab Program (DENT 3021). 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Registered, full-time domestic and/or international student status 
  • Have submitted an application for full-time studies at George Brown College and received a GBC student number 
  • Demonstrates excellent overall academic standing  
  • Participates enthusiastically in the program and shows a passion for the dental profession 
  • Demonstrates leadership and takes initiative among class members throughout the course of study  
  • Preference can be given to those students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the institution’s policies

Brasseler USA Scholarship

Brasseler USA has donated funds for the establishment of the Brasseler USA Scholarship. The award is available to students in all Dental Programs in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must demonstrate openness to learning from others and commitment to working with others and show interest in the area of study

dentalcorp Scholarship in Dental Excellence

dentalcorp has donated funds for the establishment of the dentalcorp Scholarship in Dental Excellence. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in Dental (Centre for Health Sciences) in any year of study for the following program(s): S113

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must maintain a 3.5 Min GPA or higher
  • The student must demonstrate strong leadership qualities through various means

Donna Fulton Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Richmond & Dr. Hershenfield has donated funds for the establishment of the Donna Fulton Memorial Scholarship. The award is available to students in the S134 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)

Dorothea Lorenz Award

Elisabeth Carlson has donated funds for the establishment of the Dorothea Lorenz Award. The Award is available to students in S113 program in first year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must show commitment and dedication to their chosen area of professional study

Drs. Tomkins & Kmiecik Award

The Drs. Tomkins & Kmiecik Award is available to students in the S100 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must be top student over three years in all Crown and Bridge related courses

OR

  • Top student in removable prosthetics (full dentures and cast partials) in their final year of study

OR

  • Top student in both their year 2 and year 3 ceramics courses.

Henry Schein Canada Inc. Award

Henry Schein Ash Arcona has donated funds for the establishment of the Henry Schein Canada Inc. Award. The award is available to students in the S134, S113, S101 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must display financial need
  • The students must demonstrate obstacles they have overcome.

M. McLellan Dental Hygiene Award

The M. McLellan Dental Hygiene Award is available to students in the S134 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must demonstrate outstanding professionalism in all aspects of dental hygiene.

Kay Oxford Memorial Bursary

Anne M. MacKenzie-Rivers and Earle Oxford have donated funds for the establishment of the Kay Oxford Memorial Bursary. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in Community Service & Early Childhood Services, and the Centre for Health Sciences in any year of study for all programs in this category

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • Demonstrate an openness to learning from others and a deep commitment to working with others; overcome obstacles
  • The student has overcome obstacles to undertake their studies at George Brown College
  • The student must be a registered domestic student

Otto Bock HealthCare Canada Award

Otto Bock Canada has donated funds for the establishment of the Otto Bock HealthCare Canada Award. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in the Centre for Health Sciences in any year of study for the following program(s): S102, S407

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must maintain a 3.0 Min GPA or higher
  • The student must be a registered domestic student
  • The student must display passion for their field of study
  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)

Salvaggio Dentistry Graduation Award for Dental Assisting 

For the 2022-23 academic year, Salvaggio Dentistry has donated $1,000 toward two graduating awards of $500 each. The gift is specifically designated to George Brown College, Centre for Health Sciences, School of Dental Health, Dental Assisting (S113) full-time graduating students. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Must be a registered, full-time domestic student 
  • Have submitted an application for full-time studies at George Brown College and received a GBC student number 
  • Demonstrates excellent overall academic standing  
  • Participates enthusiastically in the program and shows a passion for the dental profession  
  • Demonstrates leadership and takes initiative among class members throughout the course of study

Susan Rudin Scholarship

The Susan Rudin Scholarship is available to students in the S134 program in their 3 semester (completed a year) year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must demonstrate self-motivation and above-average academic success in all aspects of the program.
  • The student must exhibit a commitment and dedication to the profession of dental hygiene.

Schools of Health Services Management & Health and Wellness

Caroline MacDonald Memorial Award

Starting in the fall semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, Erin MacDonald (On behalf of multiple donors) will present one (1) award of $500 to one (1) student.  The Donor has created this award in memory of their aunt, Caroline MacDonald, who was a graduate of George Brown College.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be registered, full-time domestic and/or international student
  • Must be enrolled in a full-time diploma or four-year degree program
  • Must be enrolled in the Recreation Management in Gerontology Program (C152)
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Preference will be given to mature students

Dr. James Crozier Award

The Dr. James Crozier Award is available to students in the S114 program in their first year of study.

The students must have completed their first year

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must display commitment of caring and working with others
  • Student must be a positive role model while exuding positive attitude, enthusiasm and respect

George Brown College Seniors' Association Gerontology Scholarship

GBC Seniors' Association has donated funds for the establishment of the George Brown College Seniors' Association Gerontology Scholarship. The award is available to graduating students in the C102 program.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • Write an essay - Positive attitude and commitment to working with the "older adult"; caring/creativity in programming in placement; positive role model as a peer mentor.

Health Sciences Dean's Medal Award

The Health Sciences Dean's Medal Award is available to students in all Health Sciences programs in their graduating year of study.

The student must demonstrate the highest GPA, including fieldwork, work placement, and clinical. This award is determined by the academic division, and the information is submitted to the Office of the Dean.

Jamee Chatten Memorial Scholarship

Rob Chatten has donated funds for the establishment of the Jamee Chatten Memorial Scholarship. The award is available to students in the S117 program in their first year of study.

Kaitlyn O'Brien Scholarship

The Footsteps in the City team has donated funds for the establishment of the Kaitlyn O'Brien Scholarship. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in the Centre for Health Sciences in any year of study for the following program(s): S135

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must maintain a 2.70 Min GPA or higher
  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)

Karl Ruder Scholarship

Daniel Blocka has donated funds for the establishment of the Karl Ruder Scholarship. The award is available to students in the S102 program in their first year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The students must demonstrate that they have overcome obstacles
  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)
  • Students must show commitment to working with others as well as their commitment to their field of study.

Northbridge Financial Corporation – Brokerlink Scholarship

Canada Brokerlink has donated funds for the establishment of the Northbridge Financial Corporation – Brokerlink Scholarship. The award is available to students in the S102 program in their second year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)
  • Students must show commitment to working with others as well as their commitment to their field of study.

Ontario Association of Prosthetists & Orthotists Scholarship

Ontario Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists has donated funds for the establishment of the Ontario Association of Prosthetists & Orthotists Scholarship. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in the Centre for Health Sciences who are in their 2nd Year or higher for the following program(s): S102, S407

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must be a registered domestic student

The Mabel and Arnet Pentland Fund Bursary

Mabel and Arnet Pentland Fund have donated funds for the establishment of The Mabel and Arnet Pentland Fund Bursary. The award is for Students in the programs S102 or S407, in any year.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • The student must display financial need

Toby Isaacs Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honour and recognize the work of Toby Isaacs in ensuring student success at GBC. It is available to students in the C102 program.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to working with the "Older Adult";
  • Commitment to caring/creativity in programming in placement; or
  • Exemplifies a positive role model as a peer mentor.

Unitron Hearing Canada Scholarship

Unitron Hearing Canada has donated funds for the establishment of the Unitron Hearing Canada Scholarship. The award is available to students in the S117 program in their third year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must demonstrate openness to learning from and working with others, show interest in field of study, having clinical excellence.

Sally Horsfall Eaton School of Nursing

Association of Dental Technologists of Ontario Emergency Fund

Association of Dental Technologists of Ontario has donated funds for the establishment of the Association of Dental Technologists of Ontario Emergency Fund. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in the Centre for Health Sciences who are in their 2nd Year or higher for the following program(s): S100

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must maintain a 2.5 Min GPA or higher

Audrey Mitchell McLean Scholarship 

This scholarship is specifically designated to George Brown College, Centre for Health Sciences in the Sally Horsfall Eaton School of Nursing. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Registered, full-time domestic student 
  • Student must be enrolled in the Interprofessional Complex and Long-Term Care Program (S417)  
  • Student must provide evidence of a sincere interest in a career in areas of health sciences, including but not limited to nursing, long-term care and other 
  • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated financial need, as per the College’s policy.

BScN Academic Awards

The School of Nursing has donated funds for the establishment of the BScN Academic Awards. The award is available to students in the S118 program in any year of study.

The student will have the highest academic average in the S118 program.

BScN Clinical Awards

The School of Nursing has donated funds for the establishment of the BScN Clinical Awards. The award is available to students in the S118 program in any year of study.

The student must demonstrate excellence by meeting professional standards.

BScN Leadership Award

The School of Nursing has donated funds for the establishment of the BScN Leadership Award. The award is available to students in the S118 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)

Canadian Nursing Students' Association (CNSA) Award

The School of Nursing has donated funds for the establishment of the Canadian Nursing Students' Association (CNSA) Award. The award is available to students in the S118, S121 program in any year of study.

The student must demonstrate strong and effective communication skills; link between faculty and students, and advocate on behalf of peers.

Circle of Care Scholarship

Circle of Care has donated funds for the establishment of the Circle of Care Scholarship. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in Nursing (Centre for Health Sciences) in any year of study for the following program(s): C112

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must display financial need
  • The student must maintain a 3.0 Min GPA or higher
  • The student must display passion for their field of study

Dean's Medal Award

The School of Nursing has donated funds for the establishment of the Dean's Medal Award. The award is available to students in all nursing programs in their graduating year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must demonstrate qualities for success and passion in the field and excellence in patient care and advocacy, organizational skills, leadership and role model.

Doreen Preston Scholarship

Christopher Johnston has donated funds for the establishment of the Doreen Preston Scholarship. The award is available to students in all nursing programs in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Student must display financial need
  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)
  • The student must demonstrate the desire to help others and have interest in the area of their study.

Dr. Deborah Dudgeon Scholarship

Deborah Dudgeon has donated funds for the establishment of the Dr. Deborah Dudgeon Scholarship. The award is available to students in the S118 program in their second year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Student must display financial need
  • The student must demonstrate a commitment and spirit of dedication to their chosen area of professional study.

Elizabeth Godin Scholarship

Elizabeth Godin has donated funds for the establishment of the Elizabeth Godin Scholarship. The award is available to students in the C112 program in their graduating year of study.

Elm Grove Living Centre Award of Excellence

The Elm Grove Living Centre has donated funds for the establishment of the Elm Grove Living Centre Award of Excellence. The award is available to students in the S121 program in their second year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must demonstrate a consistent academic effort, optimize their client well-being and quality of life, and respects the diverse values of clients and families.

Elsevier - Art of Nursing Award

Elsevier Publishers has donated funds for the establishment of the Elsevier - Art of Nursing Award. The award is available to students in the S118 program in their first year of study.

The student must demonstrate the incorporation of artistic/expressive components into clinical practice.

Extendicare Nursing Award

Extendicare has donated funds for the establishment of the Extendicare Nursing Award. The award is available to students in the C112 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Long-term care specialization for Extendicare
  • Student must demonstrate commitment to their field of study

Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals (Ont.) Education Foundation Award

The Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals Award has donated funds for the establishment of the Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals (Ont.) Education Foundation Award. This award is available to students in the S118 program in their first year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must demonstrate good leadership skills.

Fred Day Scholarship

GBC Seniors' Association has donated funds for the establishment of the Fred Day Scholarship. The award is available to students in the S118, S121 program in their second year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must show financial need
  • The student must demonstrate excellence in their Evaluation of Clinical Placement.

GBC Bookstore Award for Communication, Collaboration and Motivation

GBC Bookstore has donated funds for the establishment of the GBC Bookstore Award for Communication, Collaboration and Motivation. The award is available to students in the S118, S121 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Student must display financial need
  • The student must demonstrate exceptional skills related to communication, collaboration and motivation, with enthusiasm for field of study.

Kathy Parker Scholarship

Friends and Colleagues of Kathy Parker have donated funds for the establishment of the Kathy Parker Scholarship. The award is available to students in the S118 program in their second year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must display financial need
  • The student must demonstrate clinical excellence, warmth, dignity and promise and commitment to professional development

Lorna D'Souza Scholarship

Noella M. Milne has donated funds for the establishment of the Lorna D'Souza Scholarship. The award is available to students in the S118, S121 programs in their second year of study.

North America Taiwanese Women's Association Toronto Chapter Award

NATWA Toronto Chapter has donated funds for the establishment of the North America Taiwanese Women's Association Toronto Chapter Award. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in Nursing (Centre for Health Sciences) & Early Childhood Services (Community Service & Early Childhood Services) in any year of study for the following program(s): S121, C100

  • Domestic or international
  • The student must maintain a 2.5 Min GPA or higher

Para Med PSW Award

Extendicare Inc. has donated funds for the establishment of the Para Med PSW Award. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in Nursing (Centre for Health Sciences) in any year of study for the following program(s): C112

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Student must demonstrate Commitment to their field of study
  • The student must maintain a 3.0 Min GPA or higher

Practical Nursing Awards of Excellence

The School of Nursing has donated funds for the establishment of the Practical Nursing Awards of Excellence. The award is available to students in the S121 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student must demonstrate attendance in classroom & clinical setting; leadership, and character

PSW Advocate Award

Elif Dilmac & Guerkan Oenal have donated funds for the establishment of the PSW Advocate Award. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in the Centre for Health Sciences in any year of study for the following program(s): C112

PSW Award of Excellence

The School of Nursing has donated funds for the establishment of the PSW Award of Excellence. The award is available to students in the C112, S119 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The student must demonstrate excellence in classroom and clinical attendance and strong leadership skills.

PSW Care Award

Christine Bowden, on behalf of multiple donors, has donated funds for the establishment of the PSW Care Award. This award is available to any registered George Brown College Student in Nursing (Centre for Health Sciences) in any year of study for the following program(s): C112

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • The student must maintain a 0 Min GPA or higher
  • The student must be a registered domestic student
  • The student must display passion for their field of study

Sally Quan Memorial Bursary

Ron Quan has donated funds for the establishment of the Sally Quan Memorial Bursary. The award is available to students in the S118 program in any year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Student must display financial need
  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)
  • The student must demonstrate a passion for learning, excellence in patient care, good organizational skills and leadership skills.

Scholarship for RPN Students

Anne MacKenzie Rivers has donated funds for the establishment of the Scholarship for RPN Students. The award is available to students in the S442 program in any year of study.

  • The student must be actively involved in the community (college and/or external)

Theresa V. Brissett Scholarship Award

Lorna Brissett has donated funds for the establishment of the Theresa V. Brissett Scholarship Award. The award is available to students in the S118 program in their second year of study.

The following criteria must be met by the applicant:

  • Student must display financial need
  • The student must demonstrate improvement from first to second year, with regards to attendance and participation in class and labs, taking initiative in seeking help, and making extra efforts for improvement.
