Transfer Guide

A George Brown College diploma is a passport to further education at many local, national and international postsecondary institutions. This guide contains current transfer agreements and opportunities for George Brown College graduates and will be subject to change as new agreements and revisions occur. For complete degree information and admission procedures, please contact the postsecondary institution directly.


George Brown College endeavors to ensure the accuracy of each transfer opportunity, however, changes may occur in program offerings, admission requirements and transfer credit granted by the postsecondary institutions. Check with the institutions directly for the most up to date information.

George Brown College does not guarantee acceptance to programs at other institutions and admission will be the decision of the postsecondary institution to which you apply.

 

Bemidji State University - Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology

GBC graduates of 3 year engineering technology diploma programs (or equivalent) will be able to enroll in on-line courses on a part-time basis and satisfy all bachelor degree requirements within a maximum of 3 years. GBC graduates may complete all degree requirements in the equivalent of one year of study. GBC students enrolled in Bemidji's program will complete the requirements online and will not be required to physically attend BSU nor will they be required to attend classes held on campus at GBC.

 

McMaster University: B.Tech in Manufacturing Engineering Technology

Effective June 2008, the McMaster-Mohawk Bachelor of Technology Partnership will, subject to enrolment limitations due to program capacity, offer admission to a McMaster University Bachelor of Technology degree completion program to applicants who have successfully completed a George Brown College Advanced Technology Diploma, with a minimum GPA of 3.0, in the field of technology required for admission to that program subject to any conditions stated below. Applicants will need to comply with McMaster University Bachelor of Technology program admissions procedures and deadlines. 

 

Ryerson University: Bachelor of Commerce Information Technology Management

Graduates from approved CAAT diploma programs in Business Administration, specializing in Computer Programming, Information Technology or Telecommunications, can earn advanced standing to the third-year of the ITM program. Advanced standing is intended for students who already have a technology and business background comparable to Ryerson ITM students entering third year. Successful applicants will be granted admission with a combination of transfer credits and makeup courses from within the curriculum, equivalent to two years of full-time study. 

 

University of Western Ontario: Bachelor of Engineering 

Graduates of a three-year Engineering Technology program or two year Engineering Technician programs will be considered for admission to the relevant Bachelor of Engineering Science program. A minimum 3 years of full-time study would be required to complete the four year program.

 

Lakehead University: Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)

Applicants must have a relevant technology diploma. The program may be completed in 2 years and 2 months. Credential(s) to be granted on successful completion of all required components: Students will receive a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) degree. Provisions for tracking student progress: Students may meet with the Chair of their program. 

 

Cape Breton University: Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Manufacturing

Graduates of George Brown College's full time Mechanical Engineering Technology - Design program will receive 30 credits and can complete the Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Manufacturing degree at Cape Breton University (CBU) - via distance learning, in one academic year.

 

Cape Breton University: Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Petroleum

Graduates of George Brown College's full time Mechanical Engineering Technology - Design program will receive 36 credits and can complete the Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Petroleum degree at Cape Breton University (CBU), in one academic year. Due to learning that must take place in shops and labs, all Petroleum courses must be taken at CBU's campus.

 

Athabasca University: BSc (PD)

Block credit transfer of 60 credits towards a BSc (PD)
