First Year Students for January 2010 intake

Field Placement Clearance Form Requirements (Jan-Aug 2010)

All first year students registered in the C100-Early Childhood Education program must bring their completed Field Placement Clearance Form, Ontario Education Services Corporation (OESC) ID card (valid annually), Standard First Aid Certificate (valid every three years) and CPR Level-C Certificate (valid annually) on Orientation Day: Wednesday, January 6th, 2010.

URGENT NOTICE REGARDING OESC

On December 8, 2009, the RCMP published an interim policy, outlining national requirements governing police record checks. The policy took effect immediately. There was no consultation or forewarning for OESC and no transition plan for organizations such as OESC. As a result, we have been unable to conduct police record checks for students since that time. We are working very hard with senior officials from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and the RCMP to resolve the situation as soon as possible. We will provide a further update in early January, with recommendations for students who do not have an OESC ID Card as a result of this interruption in service. There will be a revised set of forms and procedures required for conducting police record checks through OESC in the future. These will be made available as soon as possible. Our web site Opens in a new browser window will contain daily updates about this situation beginning on January 5, 2010. Please consult it regularly for updates. We do not have the staff to be able to respond at this time to individual phone calls or emails. We stress that this situation was not in our control, and we thank you for your patience as we work to resolve it.

To get started, you must download and complete the Field Placement Clearance form below. It is your responsibility to complete all the medical and non-medical requirements and ensure that your form is properly completed, signed and stamped by your doctor or physician. All cost is the responsibility of the student.

Due to the urgent notice mentioned above by the OESC, you cannot apply or submit any vulnerable sector application form through them until further notice. You will be given further instructions on your Orientation day.

You may register for Standard First Aid with CPR Level-C Certificate courses to any of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) approved First Aid Trainers available in your area, visit their website at http://www.wsib.ca/wsib/wsibsite.nsf/Public/FATrainers

Please be advised that all Early Childhood Education students are no longer required to book any appointment to see the College’s Occupational Health Nurse provider at ParaMed.

Failure to provide the above requirements on your Orientation day, will exclude you from being eligible for field placement.

For more information, please review the registration package sent to you or contact the School of Early Childhood Program at (416) 415-5000 ext. 2310 or via email at
