Faculty & Staff
George Brown's School of Early Childhood faculty is
a highly regarded multidisciplinary team with extensive
background in teaching, child care administration, special education,
health promotion,
and community development. Our full-time faculty brings
a rich array of skills and experience to their teaching and is renowned
throughout
Canada.
Faculty members advocate for children and families through active involvement
in developing government policy, serving on boards of local and national
organizations, and producing research materials including the journal,
IDEAS. A journal for early childhood educators, IDEAS is produced in
partnership with the Hinks-Dellcrest Institute. It focuses on emotional
well being of children in the childcare environment. IDEAS is published
in Interaction, a national magazine produced by the Canadian Child Care
Federation.
Faculty in the School of Early Childhood are recognized
nationally for developing curriculum and textbooks for early childhood
education. Faculty members also participate in applied research that
adds to the knowledge of early childhood development. Our faculty keep
current in the field through advanced study in graduate and postgraduate
programs and ongoing collaboration with community groups, other educational
institutions, and government bodies.
Internationally, faculty members have been involved in early childhood
development projects in Jamaica, Bosnia, and Kosovo, strengthening professional
development opportunities for students and faculty.
