George Brown Chef School students compete on “iron chef” TV show

On November 5, 2007 MTV Canada first aired for the first time (Bell ExpressVu Channel 581, StarChoice Channel 566, and Rogers Cable Channel 52) an “iron Chef” competition on its MTV e2 show between two of George Brown’s finest Chef School students, Paul Ruffolo and Alana Cowl. The cook-off, filmed in George Brown’s Compliments Culinary Centre, was judged by one of the original Iron Chefs, Japan’s very own Chef Masaharu Morimoto. The secret ingredient? Black Cod. The prize? $1,000 worth of cookware, a copy of Chef Morimoto’s new book, Morimoto: The New Art of Japanese Cooking, and the honour of being named George Brown’s first-ever Iron Chef.
