Charmaine Williams got a firsthand look at how George Brown College (GBC) prepares women for exciting opportunities in the skilled trades.

More than 40 Toronto high school students attended classes at George Brown College (GBC) this winter to get ready for exciting paid learning opportunities in the skilled trades.

Gueye is proof that if you have a dream, stick to it! She graduated from GBC's Construction Engineering Technician program in 1999 and landed her dream job in 2021. Now, she helps others find success in the skilled trades.

Maryana Sakhryn shares two languages with her partner Denis Gorbunov — and a shared history of learning at GBC.

“We were very happy to provide elementary teachers with an up-close look at what skilled trades training looks like and the meaningful careers it can lead to,” said Kizzy Rodney, George Brown’s Associate Vice-President of External and Community Relations.

Nearly 300 students from the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies gathered recently to network and discuss fostering safe work environments with some of the most successful leaders of Ontario construction companies.

A student scholarship made a big difference for Construction Engineering Technology grad Vincent Nguyen and contributed to his success. Now, he's a project co-ordinator who one day hopes to become a project manager.

Throughout his career, Mark demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the trade union movement and the rights of working people.

As the demand for sustainable solutions increases, George Brown College’s approach to applied learning and close ties to industry partners address the need for hiring professionals with specialized skill sets.

Students from the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (CHCA) won gold in three categories and a silver. And a student from the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies took bronze.
