>Institute of Entrepreneurship and Community Innovation Open House

On November 17, 2009, the Centre for Business hosted the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Community Innovation Open House. Guests from the business community included Canadian Youth Business Foundation and Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship. A “Dragon’s Den” challenge featuring Jesse Thompson of Reel Work, Priscilla Sam of Motto Gift Registry, Sean Balog of BDS Consulting, and Denis Fontana of Carpe Diem Pizzeria and Café was also held. Congratulations to Priscilla Sam for winning the challenge!

George Brown College students who recently competed in the Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) national entrepreneurship competition, the country's largest and most prestigious student entrepreneurship contest run by the Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) student organization, were named the Most Improved Team for 2008. International Business (B411) student, Marcin Mokrzewski, is selected as regional winner in the SCL/ Progistix National Student Award competition.

The annual com
petition, sponsored by the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Canada and Progistix, honours Canadian logistics students.


Centre for Business students compete to determine who would represent George Brown College at the provincial qualifying round for the Ontario Heads of Business Case Competition. 

The students’ task was to develop and present an Integrated Marketing Communications Plan, highlighting recommendations on how to increase student enrollment in business programs at Ontario’s colleges.

Darren Chadwick is a student currently registered in the B409 - Strategic Relationship Marketing postgraduate certificate program.

He has been applying everything that he has learned at George Brown so far and has already started up a company with a partner as a result!

The name of the company is 'Store Your Style' (see www.storeyourstyle.com). Store Your Style offers a "unique storage service designed for those living in urban spaces. We recognize that living in a home that is space constrained means making compromises in your lifestyle."
