Maureen Loweth

Bio
As Dean of Business, Arts and Design at George Brown College, Maureen Loweth is responsible for the academic and administrative leadership of two Centres offering a broad range of credentials. Since 2002, she has overseen the doubling of student enrollment in Business, Arts and Design programs to around 10,000 students and increased the number of academic programs from 28 to 34. Other achievements include building projects such as the opening of a new School of Financial Services, the building of the Young Centre for the Performing Arts which is home to the George Brown Theatre School, and the relocation of the School of Design. During this time the School of Design was noted by Business Week as one of the top design schools in the world, and the Centre for Business initiated the launch of the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Community Innovation.
Maureen is a member of the college's Senior Management Committee and was the first Co-Chair of the college's Academic Strategy Committee. In recent years, Maureen has been a volunteer committee member with the Toronto Financial Services Alliance, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and is a current member of the Young Centre for the Performing Arts Board of Directors.
Maureen spent 20 years in the investment management industry and was a senior executive with Fidelity Investments, having held a number of positions including Vice-President, Customer Relations and Vice-President, Learning and Development. Maureen began her association with George Brown College in 1997 when she joined the Program Advisory Committee for Financial Services. She became a member of the Board of Governors in 1998, serving on the Executive Committee and as chair of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee.
Maureen has a Bachelor of Arts from Trent University.
