Male Athlete of the Week: Shaquille Agard

Agard proved himself the provinces most dominant indoor soccer player at the Provincial Championship, earning Tournament MVP honours while leading the Huskies to a gold medal. The 6’0” Toronto native, an OCAA All-Star during the outdoor season, scored a tournament-best six goals en route to the program’s fourth-ever championship. His mix of speed, vision and touch make the striker nearly unstoppable, and the focus he attracted opened up opportunities for teammates throughout the Championship.

Saturday’s title marked the program's first in a decade, and the Huskies beat out an incredibly deep field for the win. Along with an outdoor bronze, George Brown Soccer has clearly become one of Ontario’s powerhouse program's. Agard is set to return in 2017/18, and will look to continue his ascent among the provinces best.

Male Athlete of the Week: Steve Efstathiadis

The Huskies allowed just three goals in six games at the Provincial Championship, and Efstathiadis work on the defensive end was a big reason why. The second-year defender was named to the Tournament All-Star team, the linchpin of a unit that pitched four shutouts. His combination of physical, smart play on the back-end is crucial for a team that relies so heavily on dominating possession and winning the field position game, which they did throughout the three-day tournament.

Efstathiadis plans on returning in 2017/18, and figures to again play a critical role for George Brown defensively.
