Aboriginal Studies Courses

Photo of people in a classroomThere is both a 42-hour introductory-level general education elective offered to all students, as well as a 28-hour program elective offered to students in the Community Worker program.  These courses attempt to impart insight into reasons for events like Caledonia, Ipperwash, and the Oka Crisis. An introduction into the complexities of Canadian Aboriginal identity and world view is provided. Participants begin to develop a perspective through an examination of the historical context for specific governmental policies, and their influence on current conditions for Aboriginal people.
