Description This program provides students with an opportunity to study and develop clinical skills that will enable them to test hearing, select appropriate hearing instruments and dispense these aids to people in need. All clients must have a prescription from a physician or an audiologist prior to being fitted with a hearing aid. Students will learn theory and skills related to testing hearing, and hearing aid technology and pathology. Most courses will involve laboratory experiences. Health promotion strategies will be integrated with business management, interviewing and counselling techniques.
Students will learn to work within an interprofessional learning environment fostering interprofessional skills, as well as participating in the ILC (living lab) testing clients.
Note: Students must meet all medical and legal requirements for this program outlined on the Pre-Placement Health Form. This may take up to four months. To see those requirements go to georgebrown.ca/preplacement. Students who are unable to comply will be unable to complete their field placement and therefore unable to graduate.
